The city hall of Marianópolis do Tocantins congratulated this Wednesday (17), the International Day Against Homophobia. The municipal management highlighted the importance of preserving gender identity and the struggle of the LGBTQUIA + community, in the fight against prejudice.
Date created by the World Health Organization (WHO), on this day in 1990, removed homosexuality from the International Code of Diseases (ICD).
Thus, the militancy chose this day to celebrate. The main objective of the celebration is to raise awareness among the general population about violence and discrimination against the LGBT movement and to demand the implementation of measures that guarantee the rights and dignity of members of this community.
In addition, it is a great opportunity to shed light on the topic and dialogue with different classes, religions and cultures.
